Datexx puts not one, but three LEDs in this unit, so it''s very, very bright. Pick it up, or knock it over and the light comes on. Set it down, and it goes off automatically. Just 3 AAA batteries to run the light. And, 2 more AAA batteries will run the talking clock for close to a year. The LED light bulbs probably will never need replacing because it''s rated at 100,000 hours. Unit operates with 5 AAA batteries (not included).

I picked up one of these units when my husband was sick and spent many hours in bed. He was on lots of meds and eventually had a kidney transplant. This clock was one of the best investments as it was so easy for him to reach over, touch a button and have the time spoken for him. He even asked for his clock when he was in the hospital and all the staff wanted to know where we got it. I came out to the website to see if I could find a replacement as our original clock recently broke.

I recommend this item to anyone looking for a unique gift, especially for someone with failing sight.
